– Brian McAtee
- Brian McAtee
updated ITAC on the printing assessment initiative. Brian stated that “Encompass” will be loading
software on our network to conduct a usage report on our network printers. This should give us some information on how
to move forward. Also, Brian stated that
they will be meeting with Dave Accord and Kim Tracey about best practices for
sending print jobs to the Print shop.
Chuck stated that the committee may look into establishing best
practices guidelines in order to better manage print jobs at SCC. Additional info will be provided at the next
ITAC meeting.
- ITAC Focus Topics?
Administrative Guideline
Rebecca Hannum
provided an Administrative Guideline draft for using home equipment at
SCC. Chuck asked
the ITAC committee to look over this draft and provide input before the next
meeting. The ITAC committee will
continue to work on this draft throughout the spring. A copy of the draft is attached to ITAC
minutes email.
Final Grade Discussions
Chuck reported that final grades
will be entered electronically over the next week or so. Help desk support has been increased to cover
more hours. Chuck can also be reached on
his cell phone at any time to help with technical issues related to My SCC (Web
Advisor). Mike Bennett has added a “Last
Date of Attendance” feature to the section grading screen to allow for this
info to be entered electronically as well.
My SCC Web
Tammy Hobbs
has created some instructional cards for students to help them access SCC
email, storage, online courses, and My SCC Web.
The cards will be located at both campuses and centers in the labs and
student services areas.
Strategic Plan Review
Chuck reviewed technology strategic
plan with ITAC members. Plan progress is
going well. The only issue at this
point is the security audit and plan that may need to be delayed until the VoIP
Telephony implementation is completed.
Also, a security audit should include all functional areas of the college…not
just IT. More discussion on this topic
in the future.
Update on VoIP information sessions
– Chuck and Bruce discussed the VoIP Telephony conversations that have been
going on. Over 50 people have attended
the sessions with more to come in the spring.
Chuck and Bruce discussed provided a PowerPoint and additional
information to the ITAC committee. Info
included:
-
Why are we moving to VoIP
-
What are the advantages and benefits
-
What is the projected schedule of implementation
-
Illustrations on VoIP structure in reference to all
centers and campuses.
- Current
Issues?
Dropped students do not appear
on My SCC Web – this is an option on the parameter screens but they still
appear in alphabetical order. Cozell
is talking with Ginny Dusanek about this issue…move to next meeting.
No additional issues were communicated…
