  1. FY06 Subcommittees
Update on Student ID Committee –
Student ID Committee will be meeting on Friday, January 27th at 3pm.  This committee is not associated with the ITAC committee.  However, Chuck did ask ITAC members if they would like to be involved.  Please contact Chuck Chrisman if you want to be involved with the Student ID Committee.  Chuck will communicate the requests to Joan Williams.

Web Committee – The Web Subcommittee has participated in two Web site and Portal demos with one more to come in the next few weeks.  An update is provided below.

Liquid Matrix – a Datatel partner that provides Web design consulting and is focused on prospective students.  This company does a great job designing a Web site that is marketable and easy to navigate.  However, it does not provide a portal or resources for current students and SCC staff.

Campus Cruiser  – a Datatel partner that provides a portal interface to access Web Advisor resources, campus announcements, email and more.  A great resource for current students and faculty but does not help with Web site design or prospective students.
Share point Portal Demo coming up on February 6th at 10:30am in the West Burlington board room…This solution would be loaded on SCC computers and developed by SCC staff.  Challenges are staff resources.  The Web committee will give a report to the ITAC committee after all demos have been completed.

Printing Assessment Committee – Nancy Casady – Brian McAtee
Nancy Casady provided an update on the Printing Assessment Committee.  Encompass has audited our printers as well as the volume of print jobs for each networked printer.  Encompass will present a proposal in the near future as to how we can more efficiently purchase, manage, and maintain our printers district wide.

  1. ITAC Focus Topics?

Wireless Technologies – Where, when, and how?
ITAC members discussed Wireless technologies.  Barb and Cozell from Keokuk would like to see wireless access for students in the library and lounge areas.  Wireless projects are listed in the current technology plan.  Implementation will depend on the tech request process, security issues, and available budget.

Web Advisor 3.0 (Pay Advice, Back Button)
Web Advisor 3.0 is being installed in test environment.  Chuck will keep everyone updated on the status.  This new version should provide an enhanced design as well as improved features such as a online pay advise and the ability to use your back keys to navigate through the system.

Iowa Community College Network Consortium
The community college IT Directors are working on statewide Intranet that would provide connectivity among colleges.  This resource is being put in place to give all colleges the infrastructure to share resources such as storage, disaster recovery, and routing strategies.  In addition, it allows us to facilitate videoconferencing sessions in a more efficient manner.

Videoconferencing Software – Orientation and Scheduling
All campuses and centers now have Internet based videoconferencing systems.  Please contact Bruce Huddleson or Mary Smith to schedule an orientation session or discuss scheduling processes.

VoIP Update –
The next TechBits Newsletter will feature an update on the new telephony system implementation.  Current plans are to implement enrollment services at West Burlington in late February.

Administrative Guideline

This topic was tabled until the next meeting.

  1. Current Issues?
Dropped students do not appear on My SCC Web – this is an option on the parameter screens but they still appear in alphabetical order.  Cozell is talking with Ginny Dusanek about this issue…move to next meeting.  Cozell stated that improvements have been made and the system is getting easier to use.

No additional issues were communicated.
