Web Committee The Web Subcommittee has participated in two Web
site and Portal demos with one more to come in the next few weeks. An update is provided below.
Liquid Matrix a Datatel partner that provides Web design consulting and is focused on prospective students. This company does a great job designing a Web site that is marketable and easy to navigate. However, it does not provide a portal or resources for current students and SCC staff.
Campus Cruiser a Datatel partner that provides a portal
interface to access Web Advisor resources, campus announcements, email and
more. A great resource for current
students and faculty but does not help with Web site design or prospective
students.

Wireless Technologies Where, when, and how?
ITAC members discussed Wireless technologies. Barb and Cozell from Keokuk would like to see
wireless access for students in the library and lounge areas. Wireless projects are listed in the current
technology plan. Implementation will
depend on the tech request process, security issues, and available budget.
Web Advisor 3.0 (Pay Advice, Back Button)
Web Advisor 3.0 is being installed in test environment. Chuck will keep everyone updated on the
status. This new version should provide
an enhanced design as well as improved features such as a online pay advise and
the ability to use your back keys to navigate through the system.
The community college IT Directors are working on statewide Intranet that
would provide connectivity among colleges.
This resource is being put in place to give all colleges the
infrastructure to share resources such as storage, disaster recovery, and
routing strategies. In addition, it allows
us to facilitate videoconferencing sessions in a more efficient manner.
