Information Technology Advisory Committee (ITAC)

Chuck distributed a document
outlining the role of the Information Technology Advisory Committee. In addition, the document lists current
members.
Interact Communications is
currently conducting their market analysis with SCC stakeholders such as
current students, high school students, SCC staff and business leaders. This information will be analyzed and used to
design the navigational scheme for the Web site. For example, what do high school students
look for in an educational Web site and what type of navigational design meets
their needs. The Web site is then broken
down into elements based on the type of visitor. Focus groups will be conducted on October 3rd
and 4th. SCC will be
presented with 3 designs in order to determine preference, navigational scheme
and graphic layout.
An outside company will be
conducting a security assessment of SCC’s technical environment in reference to
physical security, network security, system security and compliance with
regulatory practices. The assessment
will lay the framework for an SCC security plan that will provide a plan to
safeguard personal and confidential information.
The VoIP implementation has been
completed. We are still experience some
issues at the Keokuk Campus with garbled voice.
This tends to happen most when accessing voice mail. We are working with our VoIP vendor to
improve and eliminate these issues. We
appreciate the patience and communication provided by the Keokuk campus during
this period. Please continue to relay
any issues to
Datatel is requiring all institutions to upgrade to Release 18 by the fall of 2007. This means that we are currently working on a plan and test environment for this transition.
The annual technology request process will begin November 1st with all forms being due by March 1st. Chuck will send out information to everyone via the TechBits newsletter and communicate the process to the Administrative Cabinet during an October meeting.
The Information Technology Services
department is working on a solution to provide network data storage, email, and
calendar functions from one interface.

SCC is currently discussing
offering the software for the Microsoft operating system and office suite at a
reduced cost. Chuck Chrisman and Dale
Walker will be working on this during the fall term and will provide more info
as it becomes available.
